چکیده

A randomized control trial was done between January and December of 2018, in the Department Anaesthesia, Analgesia, Palliative & Intensive Care Medicine Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh, to evaluate preventive effect pregabalin on succinylcholine induced adverse effects, i.e., fasciculation, myalgia hyperkaliemia spine surgery. Sixty patients elective surgery under general anaesthesia were selected divided into two groups. Pregabalin 150 mg given one group matching placebo another orally with sips water hour before Succinylcholine 1.5 mg/kg after induction agent. Muscle fasciculation observed just administration. Serum potassium measured 5 minutes After completion reversal given. Time first analgesic demand recorded. Injection Morphine 0.15 intramuscular when patient complained about pain. Myalgia (muscle pain not associated surgery) 24 hours total morphine consumption Use reduced severity incidence postoperative myalgia. It also rise serum concentration administration though within normal limit. opioid surgery.

[Prophylactic use of pregabalin for prevention of succinylcholine-induced fasciculation and myalgia: a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study].

BACKGROUND Succinylcholine is commonly used to achieve profound neuromuscular blockade of rapid onset and short duration. OBJECTIVE The present study compared the efficacy of pregabalin for prevention of succinylcholine-induced fasciculation and myalgia. DESIGN Prospective, randomized, placebo controlled, double blinded study. MATERIALS AND METHODS Patients of both genders undergoing elec...

Prevention of succinylcholine-induced fasciculation and myalgia: a meta-analysis of randomized trials.

Fifty-two randomized trials (5,318 patients) were included in this meta-analysis. In controls, the incidence of fasciculation was 95%, and the incidence of myalgia at 24 h was 50%. Nondepolarizing muscle relaxants, lidocaine, or magnesium prevented fasciculation (number needed to treat, 1.2-2.5). Best prevention of myalgia was with nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (number needed to treat, 2....

Succinylcholine-induced Hyperkalemia and Beyond

The mechanism of succinylcholine-induced hyperkalemia was studied in three lesions affecting canine gastrocnemius muscle. Dogs were treated for 1 month before study: 10 with normal activity, 5 with unilateral sciatic nerve section, active on 3 legs, 5 with unilateral cast immobilization of a hind limb and pelvis, active on 3 legs, and 7 inactive with T6 section of the spinal cord. Succinylcholi...

Optimal precurarizing dose of rocuronium to decrease fasciculation and myalgia following succinylcholine administration

BACKGROUND Succinylcholine commonly produces frequent adverse effects, including muscle fasciculation and myalgia. The current study identified the optimal dose of rocuronium to prevent succinylcholine-induced fasciculation and myalgia and evaluated the influence of rocuronium on the speed of onset produced by succinylcholine. METHODS This randomized, double-blinded study was conducted in 100...
